Joshua Pennise is the chief executive officer of TCS Teams, a group of companies focused on accessibility and accommodation services, sign language interpreting, and live captioning. Prior to joining TCS, Josh consulted business leaders across the language industry, artificial intelligence, and in disability access.
Josh spent 16 years at Sorenson Communications – first in operations management, then as founder and general manager of the Sorenson Interpreting (SI) business line. During his time as the executive overseeing SI, he grew the business from zero revenue to achieve market leader position in just four years.
Josh began his career as a certified sign language interpreter in private practice in 2000, coordinated interpreting services at the Virginia School for the Deaf (Hampton), and taught interpreting at Tidewater Community College- all in the Hampton Roads, VA area.
Josh has spent over 20 years in volunteer professional leadership including six years on the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) board of directors. Presently he serves as vice president of the Association of Language Companies, the industry association for language companies in the United States, and chairs the RID audit committee.
Josh is a big believer in education, holding a bachelor’s in communication and a master’s in applied linguistics: sociolinguistics from Old Dominion University, a certificate in teaching interpreting from the University of Colorado, Boulder, and is currently co-enrolled at Columbia University and London Business School in their global executive MBA program.
Josh currently resides in New York City with his husband and black cat.
